Had a lovely visit today with Kate who takes care of the Machine Age Modern store on Queen St East in Toronto. Whenever I’m in Leslieville, I like to drop in and look at the bits’n’pieces of my life they have in the store – beautiful teak dining suites, low’n’lean teak credenzas (or as we called them in Oz “buffets”), streamlined couches, oversized lamps – all referred to as “mid-century modern”… and considering I’m of the “Mad Men” generation, I guess that’s me, too.

Clik here to view.The store has a little cook nook in the back where there are all sorts of 50’s, 60’s and 70’s kitchen utensils, coffee makers, mincers, can-openers, pans, even fondue pots – boy do they ever bring back memories of the 70’s and me always losing the damn bread chunks at the bottom of the pot!! Located at 1000 Queen St East, http://www.machineagemodern.com is a Disneyland for hipsters – lots of cool nic-nacs, furniture and gadgets for the chic urban loft. Check it out next time you’re heading down Queen East….and you’ll soon become a real fan!
